In February of 2014 new regulation was put into effect to ensure all home buyers receive proper home warranty protection. The new standard is now a 1-2-5 & 10 year warranty in which all home builders must adhere to!
1 YEAR - All labour and materials!
This includes coverage for defects in all aspects of your home. (e.g. fixtures, flooring, baseboards, etc.)
2 YEARS - Systems!
This includes coverage for labour and materials within the delivery and distribution systems in your home. (e.g. mechanical, electrical & plumbing)
5 YEARS - Building envelope!
This includes coverage for defects that separate your controlled air space inside your home from the exterior air space. (e.g. exterior walls & roof)
10 YEARS - Structural!
This includes coverage of the key structural components of your home. (e.g. Foundation and framework)
